Happily Ever After for 12 Years

Marco and I happily celebrated 12 years of marriage in July. Including our dating, we've been together for 16 years! Wow! Can I possibly be that old!!!!????

Well, it was certainly a memorabe celebration. We already decided to stay in town and just have a date night, so weeks before the big day, I made reservations for a night stay at the Hilton here in town. I thought it would be fun just to stay away from the house for a night. I didn't tell Marco anything about my plans. On the day of, I went into the bedroom to secretly pack an overnight bag for the two of us, while Marco was in the bathroom. I hid it in the guest bedroom and would gather toiletries after he got out of the bathroom. I was in the other room with Noah when Marco got out. A few minutes later, the phone rings. It's Marco telling me that he loves me and that he had already left the house to run an errand. He would be back soon. Well, I had already planned to skip out of the house quickly that afternoon to check into the hotel so I told him that he better hurry up b/c I had to run an errand also. We hang up the phone, and I go into the bathroom to finish packing toiletries for us. I walk into the bathroom and immediately notice that the little basket I keep by the door that holds all of my frequently worn jewelry was completely empty. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I knew right away. I ran to the sink and all of my stuff was already gone! Oh no! I couldn't believe it! Marco had packed for an overnight stay too. What the heck!? We planned the same night? I was freaking out b/c I knew that the cancellation period for canceling reservations had already passed. I called Marco and insisted he tell me where he was. He didn't. I broke the news to him that I thought we had planned the same thing. After a few minutes, we realized that not only had we had the same kind of plans for the evening, we had made the EXACT SAME PLANS - same hotel, same room, same extras. Holy cow!

We were so stunned that our plans for each other didn't result in the kind of surprise we had planned. It definately proved to be a surprise, just not the right kind! We laughed that after 16 years of together, we must think alike. Luckily, Marco spoke with the hotel clerk to explain the situation, and she happily canceled one of the reservations without charging us.

We enjoyed our date night which included dinner and a movie. To end the evening, we retreated to our hotel for the night. We had our traditional bottle of Martinelli's which we've been drinking on special occasions since we were teenagers (since we don't drink alcohol) and some yummy desserts.

Marco checked into the hotel earlier that day and had set up a few special things.

He had drawn an extremely hot bath when he was there earlier so that by the time we arrived, I had a perfectly warm bath. I would have never thought it would have been the right temperature. My husband is so smart!

This is the best picture we could get considering we're holding the camera.
Happy Anniversary Babe! I love you so much and am delighted to be your wife and helpmate. We are blessed beyond measure!
Thanks also to my wonderful parents who were happy to keep our sweet boy for the evening.

It gets kind of scarrrrrry to see how much you two think alike. Your daddy and I also think a lot alike. Happy anniversary and glad you had a great time. ( Noah did however tell us all about going with his daddy to put flowers all over the room and how he was not suppose to tell mommie)
