Take Me Out to the Ball Game!

Marco loves playing softball and has played and coached for years now. He also LOVED getting to watch and cheer for the Rangers during the World Series, so I decided to throw him a baseball birthday party. I originally had planned for it to be at the ballpark, and we would enjoy hitting the ball around while we were there. I had to come up with a Plan B the morning of though due to torrential downpour! It poured and poured and poured, and an evening at the ballpark was not going to happen. Plan B was formed, and we ended up at our home. Family and friends joined us for an enjoyable evening.

I made a few pennants starring Marco that added to the decor.

Ballpark food was served to coordinate with the baseball theme.

Take me out to the ballgame. Take me out with the crowd.
Buy me some peanuts
. . . and cracker jacks.
I don't care if I ever get back!

Oh, it's root, root, root for the home team! If they don't win it's a shame.
For it's one, two, three strikes you're out at the ol' ball game!

Apple pie and ice cream replaced the traditional birthday cake, and we sang "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" instead of the birthday song.
Get your peanuts! Cracker Jacks! Sunflower seeds!

I had the camera out at the beginning and end of the party and somehow didn't get pictures of any of the guests, but they were there! Lol! Thanks to everyone that came and enjoyed the evening with us. You didn't eat enough though, because we still have leftover corndogs and hot dogs in the freezer!

I made a few plates full of leftover goodies to give out at work. These could have been party favors.

My Birthday

My morning started off with a sweet breakfast made by my sweet husband.

Several friends met us at Mine By Design to paint dessert plates for my birthday gift.
Marco and Noah painted one too.

Ranae and my mom
Abbye and Reyna came too but had already left before I thought to take out the camera.
Some of us take more time to create works of art!

Now I have a beautiful set of dessert plates made by some of my favorite people. I bought extras for those of you that couldn't make it. I'd love for you to go by some other time to paint one. You know who you are!

May Farm

Noah's class at school took a field trip to May Farm. Marco was able to tag along for the morning. He is such a good daddy.

Soccer

Soccer season has come and gone. Noah has definately improved since last year and made several goals. Sports are so much more fun when you have a handsome little boy to cheer on!

Noah has been sporting these gloves due to the extreme sticker problem on the soccer fields. No more tears due to stickers! He's always sure to put them on.

We have lots of "tongue" shots. LOL!

Grrrrr! Too funny!

There were a lot of hugs between these two this season.

Rainbow Cake

We just finished our rainbow-themed week in my kindergarten class, and it got me to thinking about making rainbow cake. I got the idea awhile back to try coloring a cake mix with the colors of a rainbow in attempts at making a pretty cool cake. I gathered Noah up one afternoon, and we set out to make it. Noah helped stir in the food coloring, and he even discovered what colors mix to make the colors orange and purple. We talked about what a rainbow is, the colors in it and even read his rainbow book. Once we had the batter ready, I thought about how exactly we were going to go about putting it in the pan. I thought about plopping it all around or trying to pour one color in one spot in the pan, but I ended up just pouring each color all the way around the pan. By chance, as we poured each color in, the colors underneath it raised up on either side actually forming the shape of a rainbow inside the pan. This was completely unexpected but quite a nice surprise. We baked our cake, and out came a beautiful rainbow. Unfortunately, in my haste, I turned it upside down too soon apparently b/c it kind-of fell apart. I think I needed to have let it cool longer, but I was so excited and pleased with the cool effect. It didn't make it to the gathering I was planning it for, but Noah and I enjoyed a yummy piece nonetheless.

Soccer Season is Here!

My little soccer stud has improved since last year. He was all about getting that ball this past game. He even scored two goals (in the right goal)!

Victory!

I love this picture.
I'm so excited these two munchkins are on the same team together.
It happened by chance, and we've enjoyed it!
so cute!
