Snow Day!

Abilene ISD's policy is that if they are to cancel or delay school they do it between 5-6:00 a.m. We received an email and letter yesterday at school telling us that one way to find out if school has been canceled is to call our main school number. If school is on as usual there will be no message about the weather, but if it is delayed or canceled, the message will say so. Well, I woke up this morning and called my campus at 5:15. The message said that we would be having school today and all buses would run on schedule. If you were paying attention, the message we got yesterday said there would be no message about the weather if we were still having it, only a message if we weren't. So, when I heard a specific message that we were having school, I knew it must really be on and they put that on there because otherwise people would think we weren't having it. I got up, showered, got ready and all the while remained baffled that we were still having school. My car was under a mountain of snow. I was in the process of fixing my breakfast when I noticed a text message on my phone. Reyna had texted me earlier to say that we weren't having school. What!? I called earlier, and the message said we WERE! So, thankfully, my friend passed along this valuable information, but I, unfortunately, woke up at 5:15 on a snow day. Oh, well. I snuggled back in bed and wished and pretended that I was still sleeping.

We both enjoyed a fun romp in the snow first thing this morning. The snow was just like powder. We couldn't even get it to stay in a snowball, because it was so fine. So, I introduced snow angels to Noah. We played for quite awhile, and when the wet started soaking through our clothes, we headed inside to cuddle under warm fleece blankets in bed. Noah asked for hot chocolate, so we cuddled on the couch and sipped hot cocoa while watching Diego. I was planning on braving the snow and heading out, but it has started coming down pretty hard again. I don't know what else we will do at this point, but does it matter? I just know I'm going to enjoy a fun, free day with my cutest little guy.
