Marco and I celebrated our 11th anniversary this past Saturday. For lunch, we ate at Abuelo's, which is the same restaurant we ate at on the night Marco proposed to me. He didn't propose at Abuelo's (it was later that night), but we did eat there that evening. On Saturday, we were seated at the exact same spot we sat at on that night 12 years ago when he proposed. It wasn't arranged or anything. It just happened. Pretty neat!
Later than afternoon, Marco surprised me with a homemade pumpkin cheesecake for dessert that he made himself. There's a story behind it though. Probably about 5 years ago, Marco and I ate dinner at Olive Garden one night. Of course, you're always too full to eat dessert so we never end up ordering any even though it looks so tempting. That night though, I ordered a slice of pumpkin cheesecake (which they only have during the fall) to go so I could have it sometime in the next few days. I asked Marco if he wanted anything for later, and he insisted he did not. We went home, and the cheesecake sat in the refrigerator until one evening when I came home having planned on eating it as a sweet treat. You know you've done it too. You get the hankering for something and you look forward to it all day long. Well, what if it was gone!? Yes, I mean GONE! I went home ready to relax and sample my pumpkin cheesecake, and it was nowhere to be found! To my surprise, my husband had eaten it. He knew I had ordered it for ME (remember I asked him if he wanted any, and he said NO), but he ate it anyway. Well, needless to say, I was very disappointed and have not in the last 5 years had a slice of pumpkin cheesecake. If you know my husband, then you know he didn't feel the least bit bad about it either. Well, here, after about 5 years, Marco decided to make it up to me and make me a pumpkin cheesecake himself. He did a great job. It was delish!
Marco also took me to see The Proposal, which was so cute! For our gift, we always get an "us" gift instead of buying something separately for each other. This is how we bought a video camera years ago, our GPS system last year and for this year, we both bought iPODS.
It has certainly been a wonderful and exciting 11 years. We've actually been together for 15 years since we had our first date. That means that I've spent half of my life with Marco so far, and I can't wait to spend the rest of it with him. I love you babe!
